About Sesame Street
The educational preschool series Sesame Street premiered on November 10, 1969 to anticipating audiences. Soon, Big Bird, Oscar the Grouch, Mr. Hooper, Bert and Ernie were house hold names. Sesame Street was the pioneer of the contemporary educational television standard of its time, combining education and entertainment; now termed “edutainment”. The program’s format had humans intermix with animation, live-action scenes and the famous Muppets; puppet characters created by puppeteer Jim Henson. Each episode was broken into quick commercial-like segments that were memorable and short enough to hold the viewers attention. This format contributed to the high success of the show.
The cast expanded over the years to welcome characters such as Grover, Cookie Monster and The Count in the 1970’s and Telly Monster and Elmo in the 1980’s. Sesame Street also became the frequent stop over for the biggest celebrities at the time, the very first to appear on the show being comedian and actress, Carol Burnett in 1969.
Throughout the years, the children’s program grew its focus from primarily educational aspects such as counting, colors and hygiene to bigger issues like life, death and marriage. The inner city neighborhood of Sesame Street also saw an influx of culture from both the human residents as well as the puppet monsters. The cultural phenomenon that is Sesame Street has helped shaped the growing minds of young children throughout the years, and is still airing new episodes four decades after its conception.
this highchair is the perfect seat for my grandaughter. it is lightweight, has a place to store her bibs, has 2 trays and the electronic toy is great too. couldn't be happier with the purchase.
It never occured to me the highchair wouldn't fold up for storage. I've never seen one that didn't. Plus, we've tried everything to make it "level" and not wobble. You have to fold paper and stick it under one side to keep it level.
