About New Zealand Radiata Pine Wood:
Radiata Pine, better known as 'New Zealand Pine' is a softwood tree that contains many properties that make it very suitable for furniture and furniture making. It has a density equal to that of hardwoods like poplar, mahogany and oak. While I haven't used it yet, I think it's fine for the price and for my purposes. I like the fact that it converts to a toddler bed, even if I decide not to go that route. I think it's wonderful that it comes with caster wheels, but I think they should lock in place. And while it's not the sturdiest, it isn't much different than some higher priced models I've seen.

Nice bed for a grandparent to purchase. Sturdy and attractive. Good buy for the money.
